I am a self taught ActionScript developer with a degree in Computer Science. I have a strong object-oriented background and object-life-cycle knowledge. I have experience developing full ActionScript-based websites, hosted interactive applications written in ActionScript, and online and offline games. I have had exposure to some of the latest game engines in C++ sucn as the
Instinct Engine and am familiar with open source frameworks such as
Adobe's Open Source Media Framework.
In the summer of 2006 I was a member of
Log2n, a team of 5 undergraduate students participating in the
Dare to be Digital competition in Dundee Scotland. Our game concept was unique and ahead of its time with its use of a Wii-mote-like input system (before the Wii was released). We used experimental gyro-remote technology to wow the judges and win the crowd.
We wanted to give people something captivating to look at all on its own yet engaging to play, and had no barriers for gamers of different skill levels. We chose to implement a gesture-based input system with no clicking or button pressing in order to keep the interface as natural and inviting as possible for all users. The game is
Flux, where you charge and build a network of power nodes purley through the use of clickless guestures. We succeeded with our efforts and won the "Greatest Innovation and Creativity" award.
